Happy Holidays

Many thanks to those who have contributed to the Chatter from the Dugout over the past

11 years

Bygone baseball by C. Philip Francis

I have written my column each week from October in 1991 to the present, and during that time I could not have continued very long without the help and encouragement from the many, many friends, family, and baseball fans throughout the country.   I am sending this Chatter from the Dugout as a very special thank you Christmas card to all.  If I have forgotten someone I apologize.

Wife Shirley Francis who first urged me to write my first Chatter from the Dugout over 11 years ago…Richard Lawrence or Dodger Dick, the greatest Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodger fan of all time, and one who has helped me in so many ways…Frank McNulty,  Norman Rockwell’s batboy on the September 4, 1948 cover of the Saturday Evening Post, who was most gracious and generous of his time and effort in recalling so much of his teenage years as the Boston Braves batboy.
